In addition to the advice given by @Pamtastic72 above, M/W/F classes have finals but no projects. while T/T classes have either a term paper or a presentation to finish but no finals.
I've put the majority of my sims through University (though often from home) more or less since I got DU. And yeah, the X hours until next class when you're on the last day of term can be confusing until you're used to it.
