Probably because of the same reason some people experienced hyper abductions! Meaning non stop abductions. While others such as myself never have seen a natural occurring abduction, not without mod help... So apparently the same thing is now happening with the freezing to death. Some have their whole neighborhood and all pre-mades die off because of freezing to death, while others never see it happening!
We all know what happened to Aliens after this! They got seriously nerved and NOW I can't get an abduction at all, unless I set my MCCC to Invasion!
PS. however I have to say the death in my neighborhood never happened right where my Sim was! In Willow Creek some died at the end of the neighborhood where the SG tree is.
