Winterfest day off?

You can edit the holiday (pen icon in the upper right corner, I think) and check a box to determine whether sims get the day off or not. So they can take Winterfest off school and work but it would be silly to take off TV premiere day, for example.

Winterfest is a no work/school day by default. If you have a holiday that is classed as "day off" then you don't have to phone work to take the day off. It's automatic, like when they're on vacation.

ok! Any other holidays I should know about that are automatically a day off? Or Is Winterfest the only one?

By default, so if you never edited any of the holidays, your sims will have a day off on harvest fest, Winterfest and new years eve.

But as mentioned above, you can change this if you want. In my game new years eve is a working day.

New Year’s Eve , and harvest fest

All the default holidays except for Love Day are days off work. Not counting the extra ones like TV premiere, lottery day, neighbourhood brawl, pirate day, rebate day, prank day, night on the town, new skill day.

Love Day's main requirement is a date, and you'll have time for that after work - or before.
