- Currently no, but there is a mod that does it for you. You can even choose the options of who gets the last name etc. Think its called MC command center.

You guys will get a chuckle out of this one. So my first couple got preggers and had their baby. I typed in the first name but the window popped up again and said "you have to put in a first name". It's my FIRST baby in TS4. So I thought I made a mistake and typed in the name again.
Yes, that's right. She now has twins with the same first name. - graceymanors9 years agoLegendJust be careful changing the name if your sim just gave birth.I did that, and when I exited CAS, she was back to being pregnant and still had the newborns, so she got stuck 'pregnant"

Happened to me too today!!- What I think we really need is a "hyphenate names" option. But Olivia Spencer-Kim-Lewis gets buggy because of her long name IIRC, so it probably won't happen.

Happened to me as well :D I later changed one letter of the name, they were both Janna and now they're Janni & Janna. - I'm happy with the way it works now. My sims usually don't change their name when they marry, I see their name as part of their identity. If I want to change it's it's easily done in CAS without cheats.
And gee, I'm so happy the Sims team is not stuck in 1950 and automatically gives newborns their father's name... I can understand the wish for a shared family name, but I can't see any good, logical and non-misogynistic reason why that name should automatically come from the man. What each and every player does in their game is completely up to them, but it would be pretty backward if the game made this (in my opinion outdated) choice for everyone.
When a baby is born, you are asked to choose their first and last name. How could it be easier to give them the last name you want? - Not every culture changes last names when a couple gets married. I'm glad they dont do that now with the game.

A response from SimGuruDaniel about a year ago... things may have changed with the team since then but they've thought about it...

Personally I'd just like the option. For me having to cheat takes a bit away from the immersion (especially if its during a special moment). A neat popup with options would be cool though. - You don't need a cheat to change the name though you just go into CAS via the mirror or dresser and click the name bar and change it. A bit like going to the courthouse or town hall to fill out paperwork to do it in real life.
I'm not opposed to a popup coming up but I just don't see how the way it's currently set up breaks the immersion that much.
