Come on, guys, you did not even read between the lines. It is obvious that it is not any badly produced content that would be accepted as the winner of a competition of that level. This idea was going to revolutionize our games in a wonderful way, it would benefit creators, devs, and us, players! We wouldn't have months of wait for news, for content, bug fixes... Everyone that worked to fix, patch, add content would be properly payed and recognized, and our game would be much more consistent and regular than any Sims game ever was. CC creators had fixed the time jumping bug years before EAxis could, they found a way to add a mod that fixed the piles of rotten leaf way before...
@storyy All the Stuff, after accepted in the contest would obbiously fall under EAxis responsibility. The CC creator would know from the start that their product would undergo so polishing and refinement to ressonate with the Base Game.
@KirbySkywalker They are selling their rights of a prodcut they developed to EAxis, after that the cc will be receiving the same treatment that all official packs receive. I thought that was obviously implied and thats why i proposed that idea of officializing the best of the best custom contents out there. To reward the creator with recognition and income for what they worked so hard. And, to respect the consumer, it would be treated the same way as the other packs, being updated, fixed, etc...
@Archieonic This program would allow many developers to be recognized as such, and not as mere fans writing fanfiction, they are writing their masterpieces within the boundaries of The Sims, allowing the player to experience the best of the best games out there.
@TS1299 The backlash was stupid and desrespectful to the developers, the cc creator mimicked something they had already developed in The Sims 1 and The Sims 3 with the superstars and celebrities system. If I release a University mod today, would the community go into a backlash against EA after they released their obvious intended from the beginning EP? I guess some people just like to annoy other people. You know? I hope you got what I was trying to explain.
@Maggiedoll Well, the pack is not going to be developed after winning the contest. The contest would be kinda like an official webstie to download custom content. The most downloaded, liked and commented ones would be officialized. Until officialization the custom content creator would have to go to patreon, would have to gather fans with a good work and reputation. It wouldn't hurt the cc comunnity as many are thinking. Whoever don't want their cc officialized just wouldn't need to enter the contest.
@LadyKyn Th econversion was one of various examples I could have told you. You paid for H&M stuff IN sims 2, but look you paied twice for the same base game. The Sims 2/4. hahaha. Obviously you have to pay for someone to convert a pack for you, time is not cheap, people have to eat, if you don't want a conversion pack, download an exclusive/never seen before pack. Like the meaningful stories, would be part of an update. Or maybe the functional canning station mod or candle making mod, as new stuff, could be a new/never seen before idea turned into a GP or part of an EP.
Again, it wouldn't be accepted jsut because it was made. First, bad quality wouldn't be popular, it isn't, why it would be in this scenario? Second, the devs would obviously create rules where the cc, to be accepted on the contest, would undergo into certain rules. A +18 pack wouldn't be allowed, for example. The devs would, after the cc won the contest, polish it to fit the game.
@Lizzychicago Thanks GOD, finally, someone understood what it is all about.
@Ravager619 Depending on how te devs organized the ccompetition, mabe we could vot in the clothing/ hairstyles and furniture jsut like we did in the community pack we had for Laundry Day.
@ladybreid @luxsylvan again, art style consistency and quality control are not good points that would boost the cc participant on the constest, they are obviously rules that would eliminate people from the contest.
@simgirl1010 You could support them with recognition, regular income (that would be their % in the pack sales) and much more.
@ctthomas Yes, you would have to pay for it, but it doesn't mean people can't post their cc for free before it wins a contest and thats how you would know if the quality of the product would be worth your votes to win the competition. After that its going to be an official content that is going to updated, polished, fixed... Its really hard to find cc that is not wrong in the game in a way, being it a poly out of place in the hairstyle or a scripted mod that gives breaks your game, because the content creators don't have access to the actual engine of the game to develop their products better than they already are. Some ideas are even impossible to be developed as cc.
@munroele exactly, just like the devs who produce the game for us, the game will keep being updated even if the guy who build the pink and brown chair on Get Together gets fired.
@Scobre The content creator would see more money then they ever saw from their fans. Some people don't even know what costum content is, but they buy packs. Buying one of the packs that were developed by a cc creator would give them a lifetime income based on %. Depending on the size of their product, how many objects, clothes, etc... You would be supporting them better by recognizing their existence then just paying some pennies on patreon.
@mika If they didn't maintain quality, even I would be angry.
@PlayerSinger2010 Official is official, right?! If a fanpack gains a worldwide competition to choose the best out of the best custom contents, got officialized, won a lifetime chance of being updated, fixed, polished and improved, wouldn't that be a quality content for you?
@Charlotta11 We, as a community, would come together and never allow the company to make fool of us.
AGAIN, this wouldn't be the sort of contest that a five year old with a computer and maia could get into. This would have rules, quality and praise from the fans before it was even allowed to get into the competition... Imagine being added to the game, another round of rules, quality and praise to win thay competition. Yes, your content creator would win with it, they would for sure receive a % of every money someone expends on their officialized and polished contents, be it 10% for developing a bed that was included in Sims 4 University or a whole 90% of a Stuff Pack fully developed with their hard work and passion for the Sims.
Simmers, I understand that you got so scared that the only thing you could recall in the deepest parts of your brain that EA could pranks us all with that, but that would be a revolution for us. Being able to vote, promote a choose what we most wanted in our games. Even better than the community pack that gave us Laundry Day.
It wasn't obvious before the edit, which is why people listed the concerns they did. I feel I should let you know, whether it was your intent or not, that you're coming across a little condescending in this reply. Either way, thank you for clarifying. We aren't automatically on the same thought process, so sometimes it's better to err on the side of caution. ?
I voted as I saw fit with the information at hand, but my vote stays the same. I am unsure whether or not I'd buy it.
