Would you invest in a better PC for a next gen sims game?

I spend enough money on the sims as it is. I really love the sims, but in the end it's only a game and that $500-$700 could have gone to something more beneficial. This may come as being a fake fan, but I'm just thinking about my future.
Now if someone else were willing to purchase it for me, then that would be a different story.
