Hot tubs should have been in the base game from the start. The fact that it is not I blame on the paid pack nonsense that began with TS3.
If hot tubs are base game, there stands a chance that there will be different types, including in-ground.
If they should ever patch in hot tub I'm still not willing to buy a pack later that contains a retexture of the mesh that works the same way. Custom content is free.
Me either, Cinebar. I would never buy a pack for a retexture.
I don't care about retextures one wit. The inflexibility of TS4 forced me to learn how to recolor. If I wanted a certain texture with a different frame, I had to learn to do it for myself. So, EA will never hold me hostage to buy a pack simply because I need a bit of color variety, or new hairs, or new meshes for furnishings. I can get better hairs and furnishings elsewhere. I didn't need to wait for a plain, white shelf, five years after launch. I made one.
What I can't get elsewhere are certain realistic animations and game systems such as the Seasons calendar. Yet, there are some modders who are tackling personality archetypes and an attraction system. Given some time and very hard work by modders, TS4 may eventually be worth playing in live mode -- for a player like me who is tired of waiting for TS4 to finally have some substance and depth.
