No, that doesn't bother me, because it's just a game and real life is much "weirder" than the Sims 4 portrays.
I've always felt that there aren't enough risks and consequences in the game as it is. There are always risks to decision-making in life, so I feel that it makes more sense in a life simulator to offer an unknown possibility with a variety of outcomes and allow the player to make the choice to take the risk or not. Players who like to play it safe and not take chances don't have to, but others like me, who want some risk and excitement, can take the gamble and see what happens.
Also, I've noticed that often we have features that people sometimes choose to see in the worst possible context, though the feature itself was intended in a different perspective. So just because something could be translated a certain way, doesn't mean that it should. It's very important that choice exists in the game so that those who want a safe utopia can have it by choosing not to engage, but also that the risk option is preserved for those who want to take it and see what happens. I think that makes a lot of sense for The Sims in staying true to its roots as a cheeky simulator. 🙂
