Active households are deleted/erased from game when placing residential unit

Hello! So i just got for rent and downloaded it into my game, i have a couple active households created in several different worlds in this save file. I placed down and decorated a residential unit from the gallery into newcrest and when i was finished and ready to move my sims into their new apartments, there was a glitchy blue image of my sims when i scrolled over their household. Also in manage worlds all of my active households had no sims shown and were just a white box with their household name. I even clicked create a sim on one of the active households but the game just generated a random townie as if i were starting a brand new save file. I have a small amount of mods and cc and have already updated all of them so there should be no issue on that end. My game and sims show up perfectly fine when there are no residential rentals in the save file but the moment i place a single one down, no matter what world it is placed in, all of my sims across the save file get "corrupted" and basically cease to exist. If anyone has any tips please help, i really want to play my game and am bummed out that i cant even play as a tenant in a residential rental.

Edit: the picture below is not from my game but this is the same thing that happens when trying to click a household in manage worlds. I was able to save my sims and households with a backup save and it is working fine even with the mods and cc, but this issue starts happening the moment i place down a residential rental.

  • @crinrict Thanks so much for the suggestions and help, i've just been able to fix the problem so ill post it here for anyone else that has this issue.
After closing out the game and removing all of my mods/cc from my mods folder, i created a new save file. Because i had backed up my save, i was able to save all my active households (who all had cc) to the gallery. I created a place holder sim in the new world then placed down the residential rental j was having touble with. After seeing no issues with the place holder household, i exit the game and placed all my CAS CC back in the mods folder and reloaded the game. I then placed down the households that i saved in the gallery that i had trouble with in the previous save. After seeing no issue i exited the game and one by one redownloaded the mods i had that needed updating into my mods folder leaving maling sure to load the game each time and delete localthumbcache from my sims 4 folder each time before starting up my game. It now works with no issues and i have several rental properties that i have placed in the world with no issue.

  • @naturalista98 The blue square of death is usually a mod related issue (corrupting save games, persisting even when removing mods/cc) but with all the issue the pack has, who knows.

Once you have the issue and saved the game this way, there's unfortunately no way to to go back.

Do you have a backup ? If you do, copy back the backup and try again if it happens on a vanilla game as well.

  • @crinrict I restored the same save to before i placed down the residential rental lot. When i started the game with this restored save the problem was gone. Is this what you mean by back up? And by vanilla game do you mean to do an entirely new game save file (including updated mods/cc) or a new save file with no mods/cc?

@naturalista98 Yes, an older save that doesn't have the issue yet.

Vanilla means no mods/cc in your game (aka empty mods folder)

If it works this way, I would just continue on the backup (do make sure to create a new one in case something else goes wrong)
