A quick update.
Everything seemed to be going ok, I sent my invisible family over to another sims house. If I tried to do a friendly introduction, the action would get cancelled by both passer-by sims and the residents. All going well so far, till my toddler 'talked to stranger' then suddenly my other sims started interacting with Mr Travis.. so I think my naughty toddler tester found some kind of loop hole? I'm testing the trait with all sims ages, so perhaps it wasn't coded for toddlers? Was I supposed to do that? :joy: Oops..
Update.2
I sent my toddler home because they were being a pain lol. They can still interact with household members who also have the trait, but the chat options are very limited to ones such as 'give gift' and 'take picture' etc. However for some reason Travis (the sim my toddler 'talked to stranger') Has all the normal chat options. It does seem to have gone back to being 'invisible' now as the interactions are being cancelled. But I think there is something to do with toddlers that enables them to chat, unless they auto did that themselves i'm not sure. I think there is a couple of stray interactions that lead sims to interact with one another. But I will just let them run wild for a bit and see if they start any conversations on their own first.
Update.3
Ok I think it might be just because i am testing with a toddler and child sim as well and they seem to be able to interact as normal so I don't think the trait was built for them so they can somehow form a group chat and break the barrier, oops my bad :joy: I think the only sorts of interactions that the adult sims occasionally do, are the generic wave and hello and then just some awkward staring at each other :joy: as well as some of the odd interactions that I think came in some eps that I mentioned earlier.
