Book progress bar doesn't show up.

When my Sim reads a book, there is not any progress bar and my Sims continues to read the book forever. I can be sure putting down the book and check if the option is "Read" or changed to "Reread". It takes lots of time. I search and find no solution.

 Please help.

 Sincerely~.

  • @Rurimorikaare you talking about skills books? If you Sim has a higher skill than the skill book you are reading caters for, then you will not gain any further skill points/progress bar from that particular book. You need the next book in the 'series'. You will still be able to read the book using the "read" or "re-read" functions.
E.g. if you have a brand new Sim with no skills at all, and purchase the book 'Cooking Volume 1', you will gain skill until you reach Cooking level 4. After that, you will no longer gain any skill points from reading 'Cooking Volume 1'. You will need to purchase 'Cooking Volume 2' to continue gaining skill points.

@Thats_Me_Madz I don't mean that but I attached a picture to topic to make it clear. I am not so old to game, so I don't know, is it normal? By the way, the book is not a skill book and reading for the first time.

(But what you said was the answer to my another question actually, thanks anyway...^^)
  • I am now having this issue. My Sim is a werewolf that is required to read three werewolf books. She read the first two without issue. Now, the third required book is not showing a progress bar and is not counting towards the aspiration.

I saw in an old thread about spellcasters and debate skills. I am neither.

EtA: After trying a few more books, I got the progress bar to show up. However, despite being werewolf books, they did not count towards my aspiration.

    Hi there, @MagpieMorrigan

Can you start a new thread for this? I'll need to lock this one as it's very outdated. Per the Answers HQ rules, we don't allow "necroposting". This is when outdated threads are responded to so please keep this in mind going forward. Thanks 🙂
