Build/Buy Items Get Stuck To My Cursor

I purchased and patched For Rent. In build mode of both residential and residential rental lots, build items will glitch and get stuck to my cursor and I can’t place them down. It’s moving around with my cursor but won’t drop when I click. I can only cancel the placement. Or if I grab an already placed item, it sticks and can only be placed back into its original position. I have to save, exit game, reload and it’s working again. It rarely immediately happens as soon as I load the game. It’s happening when I’ve been placing lots for a while or I’ve been editing different builds for a bit. All of my mods are confirmed by their creators to be up to date. I’ve deleted the localthumbcache, refreshed my Sims 4 folder, and repaired the game. This issue happens without mods too. Sometimes items will get stuck, I reload and it’s fine the rest of my session forward. Next time I play, it starts happening again after building for a while. I have an old save file and a new save file and it’s happening in both of them. I never crash or get LEs when this happens. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Hi @Murqysouls Just going to have you do the folder refresh and game repair combined, and test in a new save:

    1. Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
    2. Repair the Game
    3. Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.
    4. Select "New" and see if you can replicate the problem
    5. Exit, copy your save file to the new folder, and test that

Hi @luthienrising, thank you for the advice! I did exactly as you said and instead of moving my original saves folder, I just copied the actual save files into the new save folder. Did some testing and I have not run into the issue so far. Fingers crossed it doesn't come back. Thanks so much and happy holidays! 🙂

Hey! Unfortunately this is happening to my save now. How would I be able to test this? My household was made with CC so how would I test the save moving the file around? I'm so gutted this is happening. What change actually fixed/reversed the outcome with your save?

How would I do this if my game save was made with CC? (Household members and objects also)

rhiannyn009 Make the new user folder and test a new save. If that works, copy your old saves over and test but don't save. Then copy your CC from the olds Mods folder to the new one.
