Can No Longer Play The Sims 4 With Mods - Not Getting Past Loading Screen

As I type this, the loading screen is still going and has been for about ten minutes, which is highly unusual, it typically takes 30 seconds at least, and a couple minutes at most. I can't play a household, I can't go straight into build mode, I just get stuck here.

I feel like I've tried everything. I updated all of my drivers, rebooted my pc, deleted localthumbcache, checked for last exceptions, tried better exceptions and found and removed script mods that were not have been up to date and a single broken cc, moved the mods folder to create a new one and moved my cc into that folder, moved my The Sims 4 folder and copied my saves file & mods into the new folders, and reinstalled the game and copied my saves & mods into the new folders. I also tried opening it on DX9.

I was playing last week with all of my mods after the latest patch just fine, even with the last exceptions, but now I don't even have new last exception files, and the game is still loading. I even went through and deleted mods I don't use, and cleared other junk files as well...what now???

Hey, I was just having this same issue and I decided to load one of my saves I don’t play often/doesn’t have a massively detailed lot and it loaded so I went back to the main menu and loaded my main save and it worked. I hope this helps you and if it doesn’t I’m sorry in advance x

If you haven’t already, try repairing your game. And try what I said again and see if that works

Update! I had to individually sort through my mods to find which ones were broken. I did the 50/50 method. Some mods were no longer working, others needed to be reinstalled 🤷🏾‍♀️ slowly working my way through them still but the game is opening!

Yayy, im glad to hear that. Also have you heard of mod conflict detector? It sorts through your mods and colour codes duplicate, broken, conflicting mods, and all sorts of other things. It really helped me when my game broke too

  • Do you have Lumpinou mods? If so, try taking out that one and see if your game works. I did this very thing a couple weeks ago and despite redownloading all Lumpinou mods, clearing cache, repairing game, etc., they still dont work.
