Can't change nose shape

Whenever I try to make a sim with a feminine frame and masculine clothing preference, I cannot change the nose of the sim once I've put those settings in place. I tried clicking the nose and it just takes me into detail edit mode. Even in detail edit mode, it won't allow me to change the nose at all.
