Can't enable mods after July 2024 update

I cannot successfully reenable my mods. Deleted them all, started the game, and exited. Added my updated mods only back, started it, enabled mods, and exited to save. Went back, and the mods need enabled again. It's just a vicious circle. No matter if I just try enabling content or content and script mods, it won't save.

I also deleted my cache files and turnes off my antivirus, but it didn't make a difference. Every time I start the game, they're disabled again.

  • @Modwild  Is OneDrive running on your computer?  If so, try pausing syncing, which you can do by right-clicking the cloud option in the lower-right corner of the screen.

If that doesn't help, try deleting GameVersion.txt in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

An overactive antivirus is still the most common cause of this issue, so leave it disabled while testing.  When you do reenable it, set exceptions for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64; or the entire Bin folder they're in.
