After you invite them over, if you open the relationship panel for your Sims and head to the Coworkers section, you can click the Sim icon of your coworkers in that panel- are you seeing an option when you click on their icon to Focus the Camera?
They might be around your lot but haven't made it to your front door yet- give this a try and let me know if you see them!

Are you not receiving any kind of notification after you invite them over to your lot from your phone?
Do you also use any mods or CC in your game currently?
Heyy thanks for answering! No notifications when I click invite and I don't have any custom content or modes. But I do use cheat codes
