In The Sims 4, two of my sims live in a rooftop apartment together. I've made them apply for universities and when they got the acceptance letters, they can't seem to read them for some reason. My other sims can read the letters, but not these two. If anyone can help me figure out how to solve this problem, it'd be a big help.
@CharmB789 Was there anything different about the way this sim enrolled/received the letter, their preparation level compared to the others, etc.? Regardless of whether or not your sim can read the letter, is this sim able to enroll in classes?

I only noticed that my sims can't read the letter. And I know I applied for the university from the computer the same way my other sims did. And all of my sims' skill levels were all level 7 when I enrolled them.
@CharmB789 I also had an unexpected (perhaps glitchy?) application/acceptance process for one sim. In that case I can't remember if I had to re-apply once the option came up again or if the option came up to enroll for classes anyway. That's why I wondered if the sim was able to enroll even though the letter could not be opened. Also, you may want to try leaving the lot, then re-enter to see if is readable then?
Hi, I tried leaving and then re-entering the lot, but no luck. I am worried that I won't be able to read the letters. And I do want to read from them instead of the computer.
@CharmB789 Can you get the enrollment option to come up on the computer (which would confirm acceptance)? Can you read the letter on the computer? If this is the way with this sim and not the others I wouldn't worry about it and just go ahead and enroll.
I can still enroll in the universities. And I can check my application status. Still it would be nice to read from the letter anytime. They are kinda special. But now my other sims from a regular house can't seem to read the letters either.
@CharmB789 Do you have Mods or CC, or did you in the past? If so, can you try moving the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring.
I checked. Even though I removed the Mods folder and delete localthumbcache.package file, the problem still remains.
@CharmB789 Hello! I did a bit of testing for this in my game. I have two sims in one household. One sim applied and got his letter after a couple of days. He was able to read it and got the popup with the descriptions for Britechester and Foxbury. The other sim applied on a Friday and didn't get his letter until Monday. He didn't have the option to read it. I tried again with the first sim. He applied on a Monday and got his letter on a Wednesday. This time he has the option to read the letter. I wonder if you could check the timing of when you receive the letters. It may be that the option to read them is lost after more than two sim days of applying.
I just had this issue as of 20 February 2023 and have found a workaround solution.
1) Remove the unreadable acceptance letter from the sim's inventory and place it somewhere on their lot.
2) Go into Build Mode, select the letter, and delete it.
3) Return to Live Mode and that will reset the university process for that sim. Have them reapply via the mailbox or computer.
4) The new letter should arrive the next day. Make sure to have the sim read it the day it arrives and they'll be able to select their university and classes!
