Car's Gameplay Overhaul vs Meaningful Stores?

I really want to try Carl's Gameplay Overhaul Mod but I already use Meaningful Stories to make the emotions system more realistic. For people who have used both mods, which did you prefer and why?

Also, is there a way to run both mods at once and just disable the emotions aspect of Carl's mod? I mostly want Carl's for the metabolism/weight gain overhaul anyway.
