CAS Background Broken?

I need help, after updating my game to the new 9/18/24 update, now whenever i enter CAS the background looks like the texture you'd see for any broken textures, the big question mark and purple background. before the update i did have a custom cc cas background but i removed it because i thought thats what was causing it. i removed and went through most of if not all of my cas cc and i still cant figure out whats causing this. any ideas? (also want to mention EVERYTHING else in my game is completely fine, I only had 1 wallpaper cc break which had the same texture, so i just removed it. this isn't really affecting me in any way but its really annoying and im just frustrated since i cant figure out what the problem is).

  • @emstevenzz I don't do any reshade/gshade support here, so I can't tell you if htat's an issue. DX11 doesn't break anything in CAS mod-free -- I've got no CAS UI mods and have been on DX11 since it first started.

More Columns just got an update this evening.

Have you tried a clean folder test? a vanilla test? I'm out most of tomorrow but there are testing resources in How to Use Mods and CC

i have gone through my mods, specifically the ones i've got in cas, like my CAS Lighting mod, More Columns, etc.  and it's still like that. it isn't causing any harm to my game and everything else is fine but it's just really frustrating. it was fine until the update. could it have anything to do with the fact that the game is dx11 now? instead of dx9? i had to update my reshade to dx11 too and i'm not sure if that maybe messed something up? i could be completely off and may sound kind of silly cause i have no idea how these things work i'm just trying to narrow it down to what couldve happened.

i appreciate your time, i'm gonna just take the time tomorrow and do a full 50/50 of my mods and try and hopefully find the one thats acting up lol, thank you!

  • @emstevenzz I have the issue too, however the CAS background did go back to its default after I removed the CC. I tried deleting localthumbcache and put it back in, but the question mark was still there. No telling if the creator will update these, I certainly hope so.

I hope you're able to find the problem. Good luck! <3

@luthienrising Thank you so much for bringing that up! I had forgotten that I had gotten pushed into DX11, and from the wording, I thought I wouldn't be able to get back to DX9. However, I was able to find the setting and switch it back to DX9, and when I put the CC background back in and went into CAS, the background was working again, so definitely seems to be the DX9 to DX11 change.

However, I actually like the change with DX11, and my game feels smoother, so I'll just find a background that is compatible or stick with the default!
