CAS infinite loading screen after 23. 07. update

When I try to enter CAS in Sims 4, my game is just stuck in the loading screen and it doesn't end. I updated all of my mods so I don't think that these can be the reason. (except for if a mod is broken and wasn't updated by now). Does anybody know what the problem could be? I really wanted to try out the "apply to all outfits" button and some of my sims aged up and have such weird outfits now so I desperately need to get into CAS 😅

    After patch 1.108, infinite loading of CAS causes include:

    • thepancake1 and MizoreYukii – Color Sliders – update available on Patreon
    • thepancake1 and MizoreYukii – More Traits in CAS – update available on Patreon
    • King Zace – 15 Clubs per Sim – update available on own site/Tumblr
    • weerbesu – More Columns in CAS – update available on Patreon
    • Midiar – BetterSims – update available on own site and Curseforge; NOTE: this mod includes the same features as Zerbu's Custom Preferences Mod (see below) and probably conflicts with it
    • TURBODRIVER – WonderfulWhims - update available on MTS and itchio (no longer has a likes/dislikes category)
    • PolarBearSims – Have Some Personality Please – cleared in testing for CAS loading but has other issues
    • TwistedMexi – All Scenarios
    • custom preferences mods that don't use EA categories; these also cause crashing with randomization
    • complex mods that include a custom preference or preference category, which may include adult mods that cannot be named on this site so please don't do that, and other mods that for various reasons (mostly related to EA/Maxis rules for Sims 4 mods) are not supported
    • KB – woodysome part 3 stair set (further confirmation needed)
    • Ravasheen – OSMP shelf (further confirmation needed)
    • Snowii95 – trait mods – not confirmed by me, but these were broken anyway

    There are almost certainly other mods causing this. Those include mods that are not supported at EA Answers HQ. The list here is not every possible cause. Testing instructions are here: 50-50 

    For the custom preferences mods, Zerbu has released The Custom Preferences Mod, which is available on Tumblr. Mods might still need updates for the randomization problem. In general,consider exiting CAS and saving your work before randomizing likes/dislikes. Not all modders post enough info for me to add them to this list, but below are modders whose preference mods can be cleared for randomization:

    • Andirz (updated Weather Preferences)
    • Chingyu
    • JaneSimsten – Secret Occults (Aug. 9 update)
    • Kuttoe
    • Simularity
    • Helaene, PreferencesPlus (updated version) - BROKEN

    hi!

    i've just newly updated TS4, and aside from a pretty bothersome "Nisa Error" pop-up which i managed to eventually nip in the bud after some file moving and deleting, everything seemed to be running just fine. that is, until i wanted to create a new household, only to be met with an infinite loading screen. it didn't matter where, i just really wanted to create a new sim and try out some newly downloaded CC, so i tried every method to create a sim under the sun–to no avail. 

    the long and the short of it is that whenever i (attempt to) enter CAS, i get stuck on a loading screen instead.

    I found out what was giving me my infinite loading screen into CAS... The column mod is the one that broke it.

    When I try to create a new sim on a lot I get..... this??? The popup when you have a file that can't be open by your current apps?! this is getting stupid. right after the new update I got this. :/ i'm too afraid to test this bug any further for fear of ruining my game though it might already be too late. I don't see a single other person with this error. I'd rather never play again then start from scratch if that's the case. 

    any advice would help I guess. :/

    update after deleted the BE mod the popup is gone but cas will not load at all. just an infinite loading screen. at least it was doing something before.

    @PicklePizza6  It looks like something tried to open an .html file.  That wouldn't be Sims 4 itself but might be Better Exceptions, trying to show you the error that happened.

    At any rate, please move your Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package, then see whether you can enter CAS.  If you can't, and you're testing with an existing sim, try creating a new one.

    Me too, I can do everything else normally BUT enter CAS. Manage households is fine, going into different worlds, gameplay is fine, building works. But as soon as I want to edit a household or create a new sim it just stops at the loading screen and stops working. Let me know if there is any way to fix this !

    Just tried it. and it allowed me to go into CAS just without all my CC obviously.

    @Its_Dosey  Great, so that's progress.  Can you enter CAS in your main save with no mods or cc present too?  The question is whether this save is broken in some way.  If it is, try loading a backup version:

    If the save is fine without mods or cc, then you can start testing that content to find out what's causing the problem.  Keep in mind that a lot of mods are broken right now; just because you find one problem mod doesn't mean the rest are okay to use.

    I didn't realize that BE could scan during loading but once I realized that's it was I got ahold of the error, it has to do with the new mascara. looks like UI mods not having the new category broke it. mcc command center was listed as the culprit in BE. I try to avoid removing mods as much as I can and instead opt for playing whack-a-mole with script mods. It saves me more time then trying to move 3,000+ clothing cc.

    but for anybody else with the issue reading this the culprit was actually more traits in cas for me. I would also get rid of UI cheats, more columns, and MCC command center until they update. even though it's so difficult to play without them!
