CC doesn't show up anymore after moving game files

Hello, I'm getting slightly desperate and hope someone can help me.

After getting a new notebook last year and installing Sims 4, I noticed that all content related to the game was saved in OneDrive instead of the usual location.

I randomly decided to move it to where I thought it's supposed to be located (C:\Users\[my name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4) yesterday, which is where the problems started: after moving the folder, my CC doesn't show up anymore.

I made sure CC was enabled in the game options. I moved all CC to my desktop, deleted the mod folder, created a new folder and moved the CC in again.

When all this did not help I decided to just reinstall the whole game.

After reinstalling the game, it first did not start at all and I got an error (I don't remember the error code but it was "start up" something.)

I repaired the game, after which it started like normal. I enabled CC in the game options, moved my CC fields to C:\Users\[my name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods.

The CC still didn't show up.

I'm at a loss here. I'm pretty sure everything is in the correct location and I enabled CC in the game options, yet nothing is showing up in game.

I hope someone can help!

Your game might search for mods in a different location than where your mods are actually stored. Don't worry, that happens quite often.

Please check the folder, where the game is looking for your files.

    1. Launch your game to the main menu
    2. Select "Load Game" from the navigation bar on the right
    3. Click on your most recent save. You will see a small icon that looks like two overlapping squares next to the save game's thumbnail.
    4. Hover with your mouse over the that Icon . A pop up will show you the path where your Sims 4 user folder can be found

Note that with that method you'll get the path to your saves. Default value is \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Saves

Your mods should be in a different subdirectory. Default value is \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

Compare the path with the path you're currently using for your mods.

Hello! Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I don't have the option to load a previous game, there's only the "New Game" option.

I did not bother relocating my previous saves before reinstalling because I hadn't played in a while and losing the old saves didn't bother me.

I can still see my old saves in this path though: C:\Users\[my name]\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves but no "Load Game" option upon starting the game.

  • I just realised that there was still a second folder here: "C:\Users\[my name]\OneDrive\Dokuments\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4"

I deleted that folder and tried to restart the game. I then got a pop up saying something about a unrecognised video card. I was still able to start the game but the CC is still not showing up.

I closed the game and the folder reappeared in OneDrive.

You can also check the path where the game is looking for the respective files this way:

    1. Launch your game to the main menu or if your game is already running, hit the <ESC> key to open the options menu and skip step 2
    2. Select "Options" from the navigation bar on the right
    3. Click on "Game Options" in the pop up menu
    4. Click on "Screen Capture" in the navigation bar on the left of the Game Options window
    5. Check the "Location Path" string. It will show you where your Sims 4 user folder can be found.

Thank you. It's showing that it's still located one OneDrive.

Can I do something so the files don't automatically get saved there but where I want them to be?
