CC not showing in game (MacOS)

Question

I am very new to the CC/Mods world in the Sims 4. I started downloading them on CurseForge and it was super easy and is working very well. But CC and Mods I download outside of CurseForge do not show up in the game.

The issue started with not even having a Mods folder, I de- and reinstalled the game and tried a bunch of other stuff I could find online but the mods folder would not show... So I made the folder and the resource.cfg with the help of the internet lol. I found all the mods and cc's in youtube Videos from trusted creators so they work for other people. Other things I tried:

I checked that the mods are in the right folder (Documents>electronic arts>sims4>mods)
Turned the mods on and off again in the settings
Restarting the game
Restarting the Laptop
No mods or cc's are in a Zip File or in a subfolder
Checked that everything I downloaded is compatible

Does anybody have any tips on what else I could try? I keep seeing the same fixes that I already tried.

@melina161098 If your Curseforge mods are working, you *do* have a game-created Mods folder, and those mods are in it. Try searching for the filename of one of your Curseforge mods.
