child sims character values reset every time the game opens and closes

as title says. every time i save the game and leave, when i come back, all my child sim's character values reset back to 0. its very frustrating. i havent the slightest idea what would cause this and cannot do the 50/50 method as its more impractical than normal. my game takes up to 20 minutes to load on startup and so opening and closing the game to check whats working and whats not would not be possible due to time it would take.

please help if possible

  • @marebearexe Do you have mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, do a "vanilla" test to see if a mod/CC is your problem: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving. Let me know the result.

thanks for that suggestion! i could actually do that since i dont have to open and close the game 8 zillion times lol. when i opened the game this go around (no mods,) all the character values were the same as where they were last night when i was playing. maybe its a fluke but i bet its because mods were the issue. which sucks because i have no clue how to find out what causes it :')

@marebearexe Unfortunately, I've not seen anything that specificall causes this, but I'd suggest starting with the current Broken/Updated Mods & CC lists. If updating those doesn't fix the problem, you can do a 50-50 of your Mods folder. It's the fastest way to narrow down a mod problem.

i would do a 50/50 if i could, but i dont think ill be able to due to load times. ill check the broken mods list, but otherwise, guess i'll just suck it up and bear with it LOL

@marebearexe One way to cut back load times is to turn off showing the CC/mod list on startup. It's in Game Options.

Sometimes having a lot of duplicates can slow down loading too. If you ever want a look through your mod list for some tips on what you could do to shorten it, How to Use Mods and CC has instructions on how to make a list that you can post here.
