Custom Sims 4 Loading Screen won't change even after removing.

I've had this custom sims 4 loading screen for a while now and decided to change it,I removed the package file and replaced it with something I liked, after that I cleared the chache and opened the game.Unfortunatly the loading screen was still the same loading screen as the old one.I tried restarting the game and it still was the same.I serached through my entire mods folder and checked my recyle bin to find the name of the loading screen so I could see if their was a duplicate I missed in my mods folder.Still there. No matter what i did the loadings screen was still the same, even if I replaced it with a new package file.I've been thrugh so many questions but it all pops up with ''Sims 4 loading screen stuck''-not what I'm looking for.

It's a pretty loading screen but I really want to change it now.

I use Windows 10 with Reshade shaders.

  • Just to confirm the package file you removed was the correct one... what happens if you temporarily remove your entire Mods folder (don't save in a save file you care about while they're not installed) and then open the game?

Hi @b00syslayb00sy. Make sure to delete cache files and folders when you delete the loading screen (everything that you see with "cache" as part of its name when you're in Electronic Arts > The Sms 4), and check for duplicates of that file by searching for the file name in Mods.

@b00syslayb00sy A cache file is a place the game uses to keep a memory of some things in the game so that it doesn't have to "look them up", as it were, every time you load the game. This can include things like Sim avatars in live mode and Household Management, and it can also include info about mods you have. "Cache" means "place to hide things". Deleting cache doesn't change your save; it does clean out things that might be glitchy. Sometimes getting the game to start compiling it's short-term memory fresh is a good thing.
  • Not sure if anyone is still having this issue so I'll add what worked for me!

1- Make sure you comb through your mod folder in case you missed a duplicate. I also recommend getting a mod manager to view merged files. if you use the sims resource's mod installer you may have some merged files.

    2- Clear the cache file

3- Remove all mods from the mod folder onto your desktop temporarily and start the game.

4- In the menu, disable cc and mods. close the game and restart it again. (this will be quick without mods usually) confirm that the loading screen is now default.

5- Re-enable cc and mods and close the game again.

6- take the file for your new loading screen and put it into your mods folder ALONE. Start your game and make sure it works.

7- Close your game, copy/paste all your mods back into the mods folder. You will likely have a duplicate resource.cfg file. Do not use the old one that you moved. use the one that the mods folder regenerated. (it'll say there's already a file named resource.cfg so you will click to skip that file when moving the mods.)

8- Start your game again and the issue should be solved.

You could "probably" make this work skipping some steps but I am not sure, so I'm just sharing exactly what I did to fix the problem, however tedious it may be.

    Hope this helps!
