default skin replacement not working sims 4

hi! so i recently downloaded default skin replacement (papillon by viiavi) and it just doesnt show up in my game.

i thought that its just outdated, so i deleted papillon from my mods folder and downloaded a different one and it doesnt seem to work too .. 

i ended up testing a bunch of skin defaults and none of them worked for me.

i have never used a skin default before so im sure i always had only one file in my mods folder, so its not the issue i think

do yall have any solutions? ive been struggling with that problem for a few weeks now so ill be very happy if someone knows how to solve it 🥲

    The best option would be that you remove all your other mods and test it only with a skin overlay in your mod folder (don’t forget to delete your cache!). Maybe you have a mod which overwrite your skin replacements. I used papillon in the past, and it worked always fine for me.
