Hey, so my sims game has been crashing a lot recently. I was wondering if you guys know any good programs, for mac, to detect bad cc/mods because I think that is making it crash. If anyone knows, I'll gladly appreciate it. Thank you!

@jewelblanco17, anytime you have a problem with your game and use Mods/CC you should do some Mods/CC maintenance. We just had an update to the game, and anytime the game has an update there is a chance that Mods and CC can become outdated and cause problems. By doing the maintenance you can find out which Mods/CC are causing problems and you can also get rid of some of the corrupted bits of data that might remain (which a bad Mod/CC detection program will not do!) 🤨So, please do all of the following:1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop2) Delete localthumbcache.package file in the game folder.3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list. Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game.4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty. Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly. If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method. The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place. You should try these steps any time you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems. It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version. I used to use Mods and CC in TS2 and TS3, but I had a lot of problems with them in TS3 and had to get rid of them.😞 I've never used them in TS4 because of the problems they can cause and also because I'm too lazy to do all the maintenance every time there is a problem! 😳😃As for a program to help you (in addition to doing the steps listed above) you can do a Google search for some suited to a Mac. I've heard of one that is very unstable (and buggy itself! 😮 ) so just be careful! 🤨Please update us on how this works for you! 😇

@PugLove888 Hi there. So I did all of things that you said and my game works again. But the problem is even after I put my cc back in mods folder, they still didn't show up anywhere. So I was just wondering if you or anyone could possibly help me? Thanks🙂

@MostLikelyEating How many sub folders down did you put your mods in? Sims 4 doesn't seem to like it when you go more than 1-2 layers deep. The most i've been able to go would be something like this. EA/SIMS4/MODS/clothing/then cc items of clothing. The clothing file being one I created. Another example would be EA/SIMS4/MODS/makeup/ then what ever cc items of make up I had.
Going any deeper like EA/SIMS4/MODS/makeup/lipstick/then lipstick CC items, would result in those CC items not showing up

I have way to much cc to take them all out. Is there any quicker way? I’ve tried the Sims wiki but it was just TS2 and I have ts4. Please help

@jewelblanco17 There is a program for Mac (as well as PC) called Sims 4 Tray Importer that can help identify CC problems. It's especially useful for helping to find missing meshes (when you download CC that doesn't include the mesh.)

Some of the "bad CC" isn't really "bad" but just missing a part. But that program can also help with finding things in a way that is a little less onerous than the 50/50 method. (If it doesn't find all the problems, at least it finds some of them, so that there's less to do with the 50/50 method.)

It's a good idea to check your mods/cc every time there's an update. With so many different mod makers and CC makers, EA can't check those. They have enough to do with working to make TS4 work with its own parts!

Download (mod guard) it detects broken mods, it will pop up and show you exactly what mod you need to remove or update. It has been a life saver for me.

babiigrl7 ModGuard does not detect broken mods. It detects when a mod has code in the ts4script to call up malware.
