Don't know if someone can help me with indoor clothesline?

Okay, in a weird update. The washing line works fine in the living room. It will NOT work in the office/spare/laundry room. Even with all items removed from underneath to household inventory. Maybe it's to do with the line being right up against a wall, though I tried flipping it.

I can live with it for now, it functions. Even if it does look a bit crowded and peculiar.
