I visited the Patreon page of the creator, and apparently they fixed the script problem and posted a newer version. I downloaded it and it works even with script mods enabled!

It sounds like the script mods you've put in your mods folder are broken/outdated and that's why when you enable them, then it's causing issues with your game loading into your save.

You've said you've removed them, but it seems like you may have missed something. Have you tried turning on script mods after completely moving the entire mod folder out completely, so the game has no mods at all - just as a test? If the game loads after that, then that means you had something in the mods folder that wasn't working right.

I tried removing my cc folders one by one, and you were right! The 'Chingyu 100 traits pack' mod broke my game but ONLY when script mods were enabled, but it worked fine with script mods disabled. I wonder why. It's a shame cuz that mod is so awesome but I'll see what I can do :')

You do have the option to remove the script file, but the mod will be only partly functional if you do that.
