I just now finished this method, It took awhile, but there wasn't any noticeable effect.

People said this could've been caused by the recent update, but I don't know...

    @xXTheRedBallXx It works fine for me and you're the first to report it so there might be something else going on. A trait of the Sim ? Did the different Sims you tried have different traits ?

      Yes, I tried differing traits and even different occults, the first time was an Alien, but then I switched to a base game townie.
