Same here, seems to crash since the latest update. It happens randomly when saving, so 50% chance saving is working or breaking the game - that is super annoying.

I think mine was caused by the mod Lot51 Suite Life (hotels), which makes sense because it was a hotel lot that I had previously caused all the downloaded lots to disappear. I deleted one of my hotel lots to fix it.
If you use a PC or Mac and have that mod installed, that could possibly be the problem. But you're probably right with the crashing coming from the latest update!
