Game Crashing

I wanted to know if this was happening to other people, and if so, how can I fix it? I noticed that after a couple of updates, The Sims 4 went through my game crashes a lot. It is really weird. Has anyone else been experiencing this? And if it is a simple fix that I can do on my end, what can be done?

  • I went through my CC and noticed that the crashing and the game randomly getting stuck when the sim goes to sleep have stopped, but now it's getting stuck at loading screens. I would assume I still have some Mods that need to be taken care of?

UPDATE: After deleting some mods, I no longer experienced the issue of getting stuck at the loading screen, but the game crashed again. I am going to do the 50/50 method again. I deleted quite a few cc and mods, but I guess there are some issues still.

  • AmarisNichole150  Which world(s) are you playing in, and on which lots?  Do you use mods or custom content, and if so, does the game crash with your Mods folder removed?  You don't need to save your progress; this would just be for testing.

Please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • I do have mods and CC, but I did notice that when I delete my localthumbcache, I can play the game longer with no crashing. Before I do the test, playing with no mods or cc to make sure my game wasn't acting up because of the mods and cc, I wanted to know if deleting my localthumbcache made any difference

  • AmarisNichole150  The Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag are somewhat generic, with broken mods or custom content being one of a number of known causes.  The other causes can be more difficult to diagnose or solve, so it would be best to test with your Mods folder removed to see whether you get a crash.

If you do get a crash with no mods or cc present, please let me know what lot you were playing on at the time, and if the crash happened during or soon after your sims traveled, what lot they were on before and where they were going.

  • Playing the game without my mods folder and the game so far is going smoothly. I guess I should figure out which mod or cc is causing the issue. Can the DxDiag tell me what is causing the crash???

  • AmarisNichole150  The dxdiag isn't going to help further in this case.  Some types of crashes are either very specific or point to the underlying problem, but mod-related crashes are so generic we can't even say for sure that they're mod-related.  That's why I asked you to test with your Mods folder removed.

To find the problem mod, you can test them in batches, or use the 50/50 method:

You can also try outside tools if you want, but there is no tool that catches all issues, and no list of broken mods and cc that contains everything.  Still, it's worth looking over this list as well:
