I got a new Mac today and transferred my saves, trays, and mods from my old Mac to new one.The game continuously crashed. I removed all mods but kept in CC and tested it. Saves loaded fine. It ran for 20 minutes then crashed.This is a brand new laptop and I don't have this problem with my old laptop. Thanks so much for your help. I'm going to try to remove my saves/trays and see if it still crashes.If it works then, is there a recommended way to migrate my saves and ccs back in? The save is really important to me. I got the computer specifically because I use a lot of CC/mods, so if I can't use them, I might return it and go back to my old laptop until it gives in. And it's a brand new MacBook Air M1. I got it from Best Buy and it wasn't refurbished or already used. It says I'm on macOS Ventura version 13.5. But now it says there's a software upgrade. Maybe if I update it will help?Again, thanks so, so much. This has been a nightmare when I was just excited to play on a faster system.

@thatdelanykid How much free space is there on the internal storage? The OS will use free space as virtual memory if it needs to. If there is no free space on the drive, and the OS needs more RAM, that may be an issue yes.

If the Mac is used, or sold as a refurbished machine, there may be some hardware niggles depending on previous user usage. The only M1 model Mac Apple currently produce is the 13" M1 MacBook Air. The M1 MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini have been discontinued and replaced by M2 and M3 models.

@thatdelanykid No. Don't cherry pick the folders to move out. Rename or move the WHOLE Sims 4 folder so a brand new one is generated. You want to launch your game with none of your current user data loaded, not even your chosen graphics settings. Game keeps crashing on new Mac

It's probably older stock Best Buy are selling through which is why it's on an older version of macOS. I have that exact Mac and it's great 🙂

I removed the entire Sims 4 folder and started a new game. It seemed work fine. I played a new character/save for about a day or so.
I tried to reintroduce my old save yesterday, and it worked. I played all day.
Then it crashed again last night ☹️
Should I just give up entirely on my old save? Anything else I can try?

Did you move your Mods/CC back into the Mods folder so they were loaded into your save? Or were you playing a vanilla, non-modded game?

When it crashes, is it when something specific is happening in your game or is it totally random?

I tried to first play a non-modded, vanilla game. No cc or mod in the folder.
The build my preferred save lives in is a custom build from an online simmer, but it has no mods or CC.
I deleted the build to start fresh, and moved my family into a Maxis-built house. Everything was running smoothly.
After a few successful game plays, I brought back the one cc furniture pack I love into the Mods folder. Incorporated a few items into the Maxis house and seemed to work fine.
Eventually I got too confident and redownloaded the custom build from Summer Plays (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMxi66DyzJc).
Placed the lot. Moved the family. Everything was great.
I slowly started redecorating with the CC pack. Room by room.
Thought I was good.
Then it crashed, randomly.
Should I just forget about my save completely for right now, and try to play the game fresh? I do play with Mods and CC so if for some reason I can't use those things, I would just return the computer. I want to be able to use CC even in a new save.
I'd buy you 1,000 coffees if I could for your help.

Aww that's very sweet thank you!

If your Mods and CC are not compatible with the current patch level of the game they will keep breaking your game until you remove them and install compatible versions, even with a new save.

I'm moving your thread to the Mod Issues forum as it isn't a Mac issue. See the stickied threads at the top of the forum for updated lists of broken and compatible Mods - a LOT of Mods broke after the most recent patch ☹️

Hi bluebellflora, it's me again!
I've resorted to selling the laptop because the game just literally will not stop crashing. Even without mods or cc, when I placed a non-CC lot, it crashes and ruins the save (i.e that save gets stuck at loading). I have tried almost everything. The game and all my cc/mods work on my old computer, it's just terribly slow and lagging since it's old. But on my new Mac, the game just literally won't work right.
My question for you is, could the 256 gb ssd be the issue? I have almost every pack, and the tray files I use for the customized lots are extensive as well. Is it possible this mac can't support my content since it's only 256 gb SSD?
