@maudebenoit16 When you tested with the Mods folder removed, did you also remove the localthumbcache.package file in your "The Sims 4" folder?
Is the game fully updated? Did you try a game repair?
• Open Origin, click ‘Game Library’ then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game
• Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).
Is the lot that this is happening on a default (came with the game) lot/home, or is it one someone made or that you added from the gallery? Can you share the name of the lot? Were you previously having issues with the lot and this suddenly developed?
You said that this issue does not happen in other lots/households. Do any factors come to mind that are different about this household/lot? Is the lot large &/or does it include many extra items, debug or altered items, etc.?
If all else fails you may want to try moving your household into a new home, then inviting the roommates to live in the new home, once you can confirm it's functioning properly with your Sims. Occasionally a lot or home can become bugged, or it may be very difficult to troubleshoot the factor that is causing the buggy functionality.
I just really wish I can fix it without moving them because it was already a lot of work since I made all the roommates and got them in uni and I really like the lot 😓

@maudebenoit16 I guess my first assumption, from what you say, is that there may be something that got borked when you moved showers and redecorated. Perhaps you could try making another save of this same save (open it and do a 'Save As' and call it something like the same save name with 'TEST' in the save name. Then go into that save and see if you can remember all of the items you moved and put them exactly where they were before (and remove any items you added). That may or may not fix the issue on this side of it occurring, but it's worth a shot... and if it works you don't have your remodels, but you still have your household together?
