Game won't open on main menu on PC

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Can't get because of the problem
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Up All Night, Life of the Party, Awesome Animal Hats, Christmas stuff pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not sure you can, seems like it only happens to me.
What happens when the bug occurs? My game doesn't open to the main menu, it opens to what I suppose is the gallery (the only options I get are New Game, Scenario, Gallery and Options I believe). Which means I have no way to resume playing or load any of my previous games. In Options, the "Exit to Main Menu" option is greyed out.
What do you expect to see? I just want to play my saved games :D
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

The menus I sent in the attached pictures are the only ones I get.

I usually open the game from Steam, but I also tried opening it from Origin - no difference. I tried reinstalling Origin, checking File Integrity on Steam, disabling my security programs while turning the game on - no difference.

Until last week - when I first noticed the problem - I haven't played the game in I believe a year. My PC, the game (auto-updates on Steam) and Steam were all updated throughout that time, so if any of that is causing it, I couldn't be sure what.

Am I doing something wrong/not noticing something, or is that really a problem? Please help.

Hi there @AnGirl_76,

The main menu got a refresh recently, what you're seeing currently is the new main menu. It does look like your game has reset though as normally you'd see an option on the right-hand side to Resume and Load Game- the only options you have here are for a New Game.

Let's try restoring your previous save files by following the steps in the article here.

Say you want to install an oven in your new home: you could buy the separate components and build the oven from scratch, or you could pick a ready-made oven from the store. The main menu got a refresh recently, what you're seeing currently is the new main menu. It does look like your game has reset though as normally you'd see an option on the right-hand side to Resume and Load Game- the only options you have here are for a New Game.

Let's try restoring your previous save files by following the steps in the article here.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know the main menu got a new look. That's great!

Seems like the problem isn't corrupted saves too. I believe I only had two saves I could open, but they aren't in my Saves folder. One was from maybe a year ago, that might have been snatched by some wierd PC cleaner function. The other was from last week - I'm not sure why this isn't showing up, but it might have been a mistake on my side, maybe I didn't save it properly.

Anyway, thank you for helping! I can use the resume and load options for any save I create now, so everything should be okay from now.
