genetics broken

The genetics system in the Sims 4 is broken. Anytime my sims have kids they look absolutely nothing like their parents. There is one generic face that often shows up, despite it having no similar features to either parents. Even when it is not that particular face, the babies look nothing like the parents and I have to manually edit them to have similar features to their parents.
