When ever there is an update going to happen I cut and paste my mod folder onto my desktop and usb driver, I did the same with my tray and save folders. Once I know which mods are cleared for the patch and C.C. I slowly replace them back in the new mod folder that the game created. Once have all mods and c.c. updated and all my save, tray files are safe, cache is deleted and the resource file in the mod folder I'm good to go and I rename with the new game version the copies of the three folders on a usb or desktop depending how much space you have on your computer and delete my old game versions this way I know if anything goes wrong I have copies and can update or copy paste back into their sims folders
