how to make over other sim

My sim is a style influencer and her work from home task is to successfully make over another sim, and it won't let me return to work until this is completed but I can't figure out how to do it. help?

  • @Just_Chevonne Sorry you are having frustration using your stylist options! I found a couple of links that may be helpful:

Considering the last link, if the stylist is not working in the manner they say it will, do you have any mods or cc that may be broken in your game? Many of them broke with the patch right before Get Famous was released.

  • Click on another sim and click on the option "offer make over". You can also make over another person using the makeover chair.

  • I have this same issue, @Just_Chevonne - I have only seen the option to "offer to make over" once, and it was while interacting with my sim's boyfriend. By the time I got the option to show up, they were both super tired, and kept trying to go to bed. I don't have control over him yet, and she queued the interaction but then reset and tried to go to bed. I couldn't get the option to come up again, and both of them were adamant that it was time to sleep.

I read Carl's guide and several of the posts at the Sim's forum, but none of them actually say HOW to do this. Of the links that @SheriGR listed, only the sneak peek actually lists anything specific about giving a makeover (at 9:29). At least you can see the interaction, so it answered a couple of questions I had. That sim didn't have much of a relationship with the stylist sim, so it doesn't appear you have to be more than an acquaintance. I also thought maybe it had something to do with either of the sim's moods, but doesn't appear that is an issue (at least before the career actually came out).

I've spent 3 sim-days attempting to get this interaction to show up for anyone - I've only seen it that one time. I traveled to the museum, tried meeting new sims there and interacting with boyfriend there and at home; also tried with household sims with high relationships, using the career-specific interactions and not, waiting for pleasant conversations, etc - nothing works! My game got very "stuttery" and several interactions stalled, with time passing and nothing happening. I cleared the cache and repaired the game, that helped the stuttering but did nothing for getting the "makeover sim" option to appear. I think I've concluded that you don't want to ask them to model their look; it takes forever, seems to get corrupted and stuck in that interaction.

So, although the quick answer is - click on the Friendly interactions and choose "Offer to Make Over Sim", I have not been able to successfully do this. I'm off to try again; it's very frustrating, my Sim has lost job performance and money because she isn't getting paid. It keeps queuing this task for work at home, and I can't get it to work.

I don't have GF; I just have base game; no mods or cc. I'm off to try again. If I find something that seems to work, I'll let you know. Please ping back with any successes you have.

Well, as promised, I am returning to tell you I was able to get this task completed, but it cost me a lot of progress in my legacy family ☹️

I had to go back to an old save, when the work-at-home task was first given. I tried to get the option several times with several different sims and locations in my current save. Nothing would work. This sim had failed to complete the work-at-home task "give a sim a makeover" the first time it was given, and failed three days in a row to get the option. I reverted to an earlier save, the day that she was first given the task. I was able to get the friendly menu option to "offer makeover" after several friendly interactions with her boyfriend. I had to cancel an interaction to watch him model his look, as it was hanging at that point. I think that's what stalled the whole thing in the end. Something seems to have glitched and wouldn't progress, but at least this time it let me cancel the interaction and go on to the makeover (which was already queued).

Let us know if you find anything comparable in your game. Maybe the "model look" interaction is somehow bugging the "offer to makeover" interaction. My suggestion for you, if you're finding this same problem, is to go back to an earlier save and try friendly interactions without using the "model look" interaction and see if you can get the makeover interaction. Any info you can share about your sim will help. Maybe it's bugging, maybe it's not?

I figured out how, I hit friendly and hit more choices a couple more times, make sure to read every thing with the style icon. I had to do this twice because the first time my sims cancelled it but it will keep showing up.

  • I was able to do it in no time. Just click on a sim she doesn't know and instead of introduction, go to more choices and it had the option there every time.

  • @essie302 This is the answer we all have been looking for!! All we have to do is this and maybe try it twice since it seems the first action always gets cancelled for unknown reasons.

You need to click on more choices… friendly and then activities… offer make over.  Then it takes you to a side screen to style that sim
