They do disappear over time. While on vacation cant count all the times I was so close to catching one and it's gone before my sim gets there. I don't know how long the cycle is. How long did you watch? Did you catch any or just observe?

If the spawners were attached to or were a tangible object, like the official library bookcases, I thought we might be able to use the cheat to spawn them with their id to the middle of a lot, but if they are invisible and undetectable there would be no way to move them to where you actually want to place them. It couldn't be that easy lol.
