Is it allowed to download sims or buildings from the in-game gallery?
I have been a gamer all my life, and whenever I start playing a new game, I make sure to search out any activities that Ould get me banned or suspended from the game. So, I did the same when is tarted playing Sims 4.
However, I couldn't find the answer to one of my questions. I'm sorry if its against the terms of this forum to answer my question, in that case I do apologise fir my mistake and won't repeat it again in the future.
My question is, if I download a sim from the in-game gallery, and the person who made the sim had used some mods or cc to build it, can I get banned for playing with that sim?
@varunk314 Yes, the Mods work like the CC in that manner. Installing a Mod or CC in your game is a separate thing from downloading a EA Gallery item.
Though I don't use Mods/CC, I do have one example of a cross-effect I've run into...
I know players that use the Mod "T.O.O.L." in order to rotate items in their building process, and if I download their build (room or lot) from the Gallery (online Gallery or in-game Gallery), the items they rotated with that Mod in their game stay in the same position when I place the room or lot in my game, even though I do not have the T.O.O.L. Mod in my game.
I would assume it depends on the Mod and the function of the Mod in the other person's game. The T.O.O.L. Mod's rotation feature seems to fall under the new 'everything the builder placed will stay where they placed it' feature that EA recently enacted so that players don't need to have MOO active when placing a lot with specially-placed items.
But... when I download from the Gallery and place a lot into my game that someone used the T.O.O.L. Mod on to place items, I do not also download the T.O.O.L. Mod.
Also, please note that:
- You cannot even view CC items in the online Gallery (there is no option) https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery
- The in-game Gallery has an option to view CC items, but by default this is unchecked in the sort options "Advanced" (see the left column in this screenshot):
- If you check that box in the "Advanced" sort options ("Include Custom Content") your search results will then also include Custom Content items from the Gallery. You will be able to identify which items have Custom Content (CC) by noticing a wrench icon in the upper left corner of their thumbnail image:
