Is EA slowly phasing out mods with each update even though a representative on the forums promised they would NEVER do something to the game that might limit how and how much customers might enjoy it...

I don't agree with you on this. If EA were phasing out their support, why would they send out the Patch as early as they did, with the message this was to allow modders to adjust their mods? As an aside, I can't play this game with as much fun without the mods I use.
