Island living 'build sand sculpture' crashes game

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Steam-PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.87.40.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Island living, cottage living, get together, season, cats and dogs, jungle adventure, vampires, realm of magic, outdoor retreat, holiday celebration pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? have a sim build a sand sculpture either on it's own or with another sim
What happens when the bug occurs? when I try to have sim(s) build a sand sculpture the game crashed before they even start building it
What do you expect to see? sims building sand sculptures
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I just purchased Island living two days ago, right after a new update. I'm not sure if this is an ongoing issue because I just got island living but the game crashed 100% of the time when I try to make one or more sims "build a sand sculpture" I tested this about three times and every single time it crashed. It's just really unfortunate because I just got island living and a pretty common beach activity is seemingly broken.

  • Have you tried if the crashes still occur after deleting all mods and deleting the localthumbcache.package?

The thing is I have game altering mods and most of my sims wear cc as well as having houses with cc furniture If removing it is going to break 90% of what I've built I'd rather just not ever have my sims build a sand sculpture. Not to mention having to find and redownload hundreds of content.

@pizzaperson1000 Try renaming your user folder and let the game create a new one. The old things will still be in your renamed folder.

Then test if the game occurs on a vanilla game. If it doesn't, put only a backup of your save game back into the new folder and see if it still doesn't crash.

If it doesn't, it's a mod and you'll need to find out which one. You can do so by using the 50/50 method: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content to find the culprit

Once you found the culprit, you can remove that from the folder you renamed and then delete the new folder you made and rename the backup folder back to The Sims 4. All your stuff will show up again and you can go on from there.
