Game will not allow me to place any items on walls weather it be decor, doors, windows, etc. Error messages are varied from “Must be place on a room wall”, “Insufficient Wall height”, “Can’t intersect other objects” among others. These items were already placed before without cheats or mods so there is no reason for them to not place.
In both those pics, you are trying to place a door on a 1 tile wall section. The door requires 2 full tiles. In the 1st pic, it looks like the angled wall is only 1 tile. In the 2nd, the game only sees 1 tile because of the angled wall on the left. The clock also blocks the placement if you move the door to the right and would need to be moved further to the right to make enough room for the door. The messages you are getting are typical when something won't go where you are trying to place it, but the game sometimes defaults to the wrong message when one is not programmed for the exact situation like the insufficient wall height message in the 2nd pic. The one in the 1st pic may be correct if you have an open wall tile that is not shown in the pic as I can't see the entire room.
There is a way around the problem, but it means turning on MOO. But you might not want to do that if you are on a console. Judging by the pics, I think you are. I don't remember exactly but I recall that using many of the cheats will disable the achievements. Even if you enable MOO and place a door, sometimes they won't work, and your sims will show route blocks in their overhead bubbles because there is not enough room.
Or you could do a little redesign on the floorplan until you can place the door without MOO. Same with windows.
A lot of the wall decor can't be placed if there is something in front of it because 2 items can't share the same tile footprint. Again, the way around the problem is to use MOO.
