Items disappear before I am able to place them from build/buy mode

I deactivated all of my mods; this did not help.

@dslepenk Please try this more complete test:

  1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. You'll put a lot of (or even all of) these files back later.
  2. Launch Sims 4.
  3. Start with New to test if your issue recurs in a new game.
