messed up buttons? please help!

i haven't actually played in so long because it seems like more trouble than it's worth, there's always something wrong. i decided to give it another go 2 days ago & i'm having a new problem. while my buttons still work, most of them are just mildly infuriating to look at & some are completely unreadable. i know it's an issue with mods, seeing as the issue went away when i disabled them, but i don't think it's a specific mod. i've updated what mods could be updated & still had a problem. i removed them in groups & always had a problem no matter which ones i took out. i eventually removed EVERY mod & still had the same problem. the only way to fix the mod is to toggle mods off in game, even if there are no mods in my folder.

i reset my ui & it didn't fix anything. i know it's not an issue with my computer since it can be fixed. again, even when i remove all my mods from my folder & repair the game, the only thing that fixes it is actually toggling mods off. i'd really prefer to be able to play with mods. please help!
