As well as replying back to puzzlez with the info she has asked for, could you also please open Terminal and press the up arrow on your keyboard. This will show all the previous commands you have entered. Could you please copy and paste them all here in a nice tidy list, one per line using the code tag. You may have entered an erroneous command which is causing the issues. If so it is vital that you figure out which one it is so you can reverse it.

UnionSine was the original name of my drive, when I formatted it I renamed it SIMS so I redid the symlink to direct it to the proper drive. Thanks for your help!

@matteafn Does your external drive currently have the proper Electronic Arts folder, with the Sims 4 folder and all its data inside? If not, please open iCloud, copy the Electronic Arts folder (right-click and Copy), and paste it onto the external. Make sure everything copies properly, then rename the Electronic Arts folder within iCloud to something else. Try to clear a bit more space if you can, just so you're not seeing "out of space" everywhere.
Once you've done that, try again to create the symlink, just that command. If it doesn't work, let me know.
- @puzzlezaddict Okay so I copied the whole mods folder over, and everything copied correctly. Then I made the sym link to the hard drive and got the message that there is “no such file for directory”. I then went to start up my game and all my saves are gone (this doesn’t matter to me) and my mods are not in the game. I guess my computer is still reading my iCloud, it seems to have recreated a new mods folder and it’s empty so in game I have no mods.
@matteafn Do you want to only move the Mods folder, or the entire Electronic Arts folder? Either way, let's try using the full file path for the symlink rather than the ~ shortcut. Find the new Mods folder the game created, right-click it, select Get Info, and find its exact file path under Where. That's the file path you'll use instead of just writing ~/Documents. For example, the full command might look like this:
ln -s /Volumes/SIMS/Electronic\ Arts /Users/matteafarfan-narcisse/iCloud\ Drive/Documents
Double-check the file paths to both folders you're using, and if the symlink doesn't work, please post those full file paths so we can take a look.
I do want to mention that the alternative here is to dispense with the current setup, that is having no local Documents folder and everything Documents-related automatically stored in your iCloud Drive. We can help reverse that setup too, if that's what you prefer. It might be easier too, but that's irrelevant if you want to keep the current setup for other reasons.
