Introduction This issue has been around for a while now and I do believe it's a mod issue but since it now seems to permanently bork existing saves, I'd like to get to the bottom of this. If you have any information on which mod (maybe it's multiple) could cause this or if there's any solutions, please let me know in here. I will also merge all newer thread on this into here so we got all the info in one place. Since this is possibly a mod issue, this isn't an official EA/Maxis investigation. This is me as a user trying to find the cause. Symptoms of this issue You can load your game up to to the map but when you try to load a household, it you only see a blue/flashing background with a never ending load circle. When you load the household manager, you will find that most of your household are empty now and editing them in CAS will create a random new Sim. Sometimes instead of the blue square, you'll see the portraits of a family that doesn't live there. That mostly happens after you load a family that does still work. That family will then take over all removed families When you first try to load the family, you might get an error code. After that it's just nothing happening when you press play. Cause The main cause of this issue is Sims get deleted out of households. If the last one gets deleted, that leaves the household empty, leading to the blue flashes. So far I've been figure out the following This is caused by playing with an outdated mod in and saving your game while you have it in If you saved your game with said outdated mod, the family was permanently deleted from the game and there's now way to get it back. You must load a backup Most of the time, you will get an error code and map reloading when trying to load a family. When you do, DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME, exit without saving. This is a game bug that's being looked into: Sim Erased After Repro Visit Mods (Outdated Versions) that are known to cause this All these mods should be fine if you're using the correct version for your patch level Meaningful Stories Several Adult mods that can't be named SNB Bills Mods that edit career salaries, like Career Salary reduced - 50% or noextramoneyonpromotion_v2 by Bienchen icemunmun custom food interactions and it's additional packs (harvestables and recipes) Custom Traits which have ts4script files Solution There is currently none. Hi again, thanks for the reply. I can load my save game (the one with the error). I can create a new sim and play with them, save that game and everything works correctly with that new sim. Hope that makes sense. I wasn't aware that any of the mods I was using were classed as adult mods, but you would know better than me. HI @MakThePrince this is a known issue caused by an certain adult mod that can't be named. Are you using that one ? I have found it to affect saves even after you remove the mod but haven't found a solution to fix it. Maybe just putting back the updated version of the mods helps ? Could you try that ?

The mods that i found caused the save corruption eventually were:roBurky Meaningful Stories (if you still use outdated version in November patch, do not save your game!)icemunmun custom food interactions and it's additional packs (harvestables and recipes) make sure all of these are latest versions, even one outdated harvestable can cause issues.Mods that edit career salaries, if you have more than one, make sure they play nice with each other with no conflicts and that they are latest versions!Custom Traits which have ts4script files can cause issues (Melancholic Trait especially), remove them if they are not updated to November patch or confirmed to be working. I myself have some old traits that have only package file and those still seem to work just fine.Any mod that changes/modifies/adds interactions need to be updated to the November patch or removed unless confirmed working by the creator. To update these properly you need to first remove them from mods folder then delete localthumbcache.package file, load your save, "play" for about 2-4 minutes and save as a new save (just to have the original save still). Then you quit the game and put the mod/mods back into mods folder (seriously make sure they are updated to the newest patch).Check your saves folder if the Scratch folder is still there even after you quit the game, sometimes the save corruption caused these to stay in the saves folder and would cause issues when playing again. You can delete the Scratch folder completely but only if the game is not running as it uses it's contents during play.In my main save the mailboxes were bugged (maybe had something to do with there being mail inside when continuing with the November patch, not sure. My starter save did not have this problem at all.)After all this my issues disappeared, i even got my random prank day/lottery etc. to show up again. (i did not see these at all)Hopefully this helps someone with this issue.

@crinrictan outdated version of SNB Bills is the main cause of this. There may be other mods causing the same problems, but every time it happened to me, SNB Bills was the cause.How the problem starts:Have an outdated version of the mod in the folder. The problem start when the bills are delivered, the second after you get the notification, you can save the game, exit to the main menu, load back the save and reproduce the problem.The fix:Roll back to a previous save, update the mod, wait for the bills to be delivered, save in a new savegame and exit, load back the save and check that the issue is fixed.If it's not:Exit the game, remove SNB Bills completely, load the working save, enter the family and save the game again. Exit the game and put the mod back, this should clean up a save already affected before the issue happens.

Since the patch, I can't load any of my households. I have removed all cc and mods from my folder and tried to load again, but get the error code 123.9d5d0e8f.df013302. I have tried all the advice from the forums. Any advice?

[MOD RELATED] Sims disappeared from household/Blue flashing square on map

A fix for this, we'll not a fix but an alternative is to be a paranoid saver and always save your families and lots to the gallery. That way if your save file screws up and u lose your families all your households/lots will still be there.

Help, i have this issue in 2022. I've done everything you told the person prior in this thread to do, and it will not let me enter the household. I can create a sim just fine, but i am not allowed to play them and whenever i click play it just stays in manage worlds.

@malle05 I moved your post over to the current thread on the issue. This is usually mod related but removing the mod doesn't resolve the issue if you save. The save game is usually broken.

Have you been using mods/CC ? Do you have a backup ?

So this is a pretty weird glitch. It only started happening after the most recent updates. I have some cc builds (schools, houses), and I can put them in my world just fine, but the problem comes with editing anything in them. Anytime I change something, the save file will completely glitch out. I will be unable to play ANY household, and if I exit the game and load into it again, every single household is gone, including NPCs. It's super weird and I'm not really sure what to do besides not play with cc builds for now.

@soft_tooru This is usually caused by an outdated mods. If you saved your game this way then it's permanently corrupted and you can only load a backup.

@crinrict Is it possible to name the mod as I just downloaded a bunch without having used them yet and now my Sims have disappeared/the blue box has appeared. I deleted the SNB mods but I had the custom traits mods in there before my Sims disappeared and they were working fine so I haven't removed them

@PLAYERBRITNEY There's not only one cause of this. You can test "vanilla" to confirm that removing mods brings Sims back: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.

To figure out which mod is currently causing this problem, you can do a 50-50 . I don't know of a recently broken mod that causes this, but you can check the lists in Broken/Updated Mods & CC , especially "Previously Broken"
