Movie Hangout - Watch Movie option not working as intended

I have three issues.

1. I scheduled a Movie event in the calendar. My sims gather around the screen after I click on Watch movie but nothing happens, They all have "wait to watch" in their action queue. Watch TV seems to be working, though.

2. Watch a movie with after selecting a movie and who to watch it with does only show up for a Nano second for a sim and then disappears. I tried with several different sims but to no avail.

3. Watch move - I cannot select a movie. It says I do not own this movie and that I can purchase it online if I want to but WHERE? No such option on the phone under Shopping > Purchase items and also not on the computer. See screenshot attached.

I have mods installed but none for movies. Game is up to date and repaired and I also removed all the mods and deleted the cache file.
