Coming back just for a update but Lock Skill Gain Progress this is just one of those things that makes me so happy.
I play on a very long lifespan so the father in my little family just unlocked parenting lvl 3 and the child is still a toddler. So now I can lock that skill so there is still something for him to work on when kiddo becomes a teenager and he doesn't have to be super-parent unless I want him to be that. I get to decide what skills and good he becomes at them.
The mom is locked at parenting lvl 2 because I want her to be a loving and great mom but a little bit hapless about it. If skills just kept on progressing no matter what this would have been pretty much impossible for me to tell the story this way.
