I'm afraid it didn't work. My mods folder was already moved out, but a repair fixed nothing. The issue only exists in those locations and this family. Does not seem to occur with other families in these locations or other locations with this family. Quite odd.
I will try uploading the family to my library and re downloading

No, re-downloading my sims from the gallery didn't solve it
So I decided to uninstall and re-install my game. I'm hoping it will also fix the missing chair swatch issue too (though I am not holding my breath on that one).
During the re-installation of the base game, I got an error saying Origin was unable to download my game. I pressed the okay button and it is still downloading. I have nearly all the packs so it'll take a million years to complete, but I thought I'd mention this now.
I looked into the error and [this link] mentions internet ports. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with them so when the time comes, would it be okay to ask for some guidance?
Edit: Okay so game uninstalled and re-installed fixed my initial issue, even with that error I got while downloading. I went to repair the game and I got the error again. Not sure what is causing this error now, after having fixed a (probably) unrelated issue

I'm having the exact same issue. Can't play chess and I haven't even added any mods or anything. It has to be a game error
