My sim wont finish cooking Brigadeiro

I'm trying to complete quest 2 of the live event an my sim stared cooking brigadeiro around 11pm in game and now its 1:00pm the next sim-day and they are still cooking. like the action is still in their queue and the progress bar keeps moving and then retracting and then resuming etc etc. the sim is just standing in front of the counter doing idle cooking animations (sniffing the bowl, thinking to themselves) but still hasn't finished cooking the meal. i tried canceling the action and having her "resume cooking" but they just went back to doing the same thing. i've tried resetting both the sim and the mixing bowl and THEN resuming, which didn't work either. I've tried moving the bowl to another counter and resuming which also didn't work. i had the same sim cook Japchae for the first challenge a few sim hours before this and they did it just fine. they were able to access the stove, fridge and counters and finished cooking in a timely fashion, without the progress bar freezing or rewinding like it is now. My sim is cooking lvl 2 right now, with no other cooking skills. idk what to do. their needs are decaying, everyone else in the household is functioning just fine, this isnt routing error either since there's no speech bubble with footprints popping up or anything
